Glass, marble and metallic mosaics are the latest in decorating trends around the world. Did you know that they have been used as a decoration material for over 4000 years? Firstly stones, then later on terracotta pieces, were used in paving. Much later coloured glass was used to adorn churches and mosques. One of the most well known is the Blue Mosque in Istanbul.
Today the choice of mosaics is endless with many different various products being used. For example marbles in polished, honed and exfoliated formats and in a huge variety of sizes. From tiny little pieces like precious jewels to bold larger sizes that give you a dramatic finish.
Glass mosaics are available in all colours of the rainbow, as well as some specially backed with coloured foil or patterns, to create many stunning designs.
Metals are also being used, such as aluminium and stainless steel in polished and satin finishes. Also they can have patterns printed on the surface.
Mosaic tiles can be used on bathroom walls and floors. For that extra touch of style, use them in niches creating a beautiful focal point to any room. Add some down lights to the niche for a visually stunning effect. This design concept is being used all over the world in 5 star hotels, such as in Atlantis the Palm, Dubai and the Crown Plaza Hotel, Foshan China.
They are also being used on feature walls, fireplaces, columns – inside and out, in swimming pools as border lines or for the whole pool.
