Davco Powder Mastic is a great all round flexible tile glue. Unlike its competitors, Davco Powder Mastic is now available in a non-slump (this means it is great for walls), dustless formula (great to save mess) and is suitable for bathrooms (floors and walls), most internal and external walls and floors.
Can I use it on timber floor?
As long as you sheet a timber floor with tile underlay (Underlay normally 3mm thick).
What about premixed tile adhesive?
Some home handymen like using the premixed tile adhesive but let me strongly encourage you to avoid these. A few minutes mixing can save you a lot of pain later on. Do it once do it right.
A 20kg bag of Davco Powder Mastic will cover approximately 5-10 /m2 depending on the size of the trowel. For instance; a 6mm trowel used on 200x200mm wall tiles will allow up to 7 /m2 per 20kg bag. An 8mm notched trowel used on 200x200mm bathroom floor tiles gives you 6.5 /m2 per 20kg bag. A 10mm notched trowel used on the larger wall tiles and floor tiles up to and including 400×400 tiles gives you 6 /m2 per 20kg bag and a 12mm notch trowels on large format floor tiles give you up to 5 /m2 per 20kg bag.
Just like other flexible tile glues such as Davco Ultraflex and Tradeflex, this glue is easy to mix. Simply mix the right amount of clean water into a clean bucket; slowly add the powder into the water while mixing with a mixing paddle attached to a drill. Continue to mix for several minutes until a creamy consistency is achieved, free of lumps of powder and allow mixture to stand for 5 minutes, give it a quick remix then use the adhesive.
